Overview
Assam is a state in northeastern India known for its wildlife, archaeological sites and tea plantations. In the west, Guwahati, Assam’s largest city, features silk bazaars and the hilltop Kamakhya Temple. Umananda Temple sits on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra River. The state capital, Dispur, is a suburb of Guwahati. The ancient pilgrimage sites of Hajo and Madan Kamdev, the ruins of a temple complex, lie nearby.
Meghalaya is one of the picturesque tourist destinations of India which serves as a perfect getaway for those seeking peace and tranquillity. On visiting Meghalaya, tourists will find themselves surrounded by panoramic landscapes, cascading waterfalls, foggy hills, and terraced slopes that are sure to soothe the minds of weary travellers.
Day 1 :
Day 1 - Guwahati - Sualkuchi
Welcome to your 6 days Assam Wildlife tour! Meet our executive at Guwahati Airport. Drive to Uzan Bazar Ghat (1 hour) where Rudra Singh II, an adventure boat, will be waiting for you. Get settled and sail to Sualkuchi, Assam's famous silk town.
Once reached, get ready for a cycling tour of the town. Ride to Aswakalnta Ghat and get back to the boat and sail to Govardhan Ghat. Post lunch on a boat, spend the day at leisure and retire for the day.
Day 2 :
Day 2 - Burha Gaon
Post early breakfast, start cycling towards Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, which is famous for its population of rhinos (15 km). Once reached, enjoy a jeep safari and explore the rich fauna of this sanctuary.
Later, enjoy a tea break and resume cycling to Govardhan Ghat (13 km). Transfer to the boat for lunch and sail to Tezpur. Anchor near Burha Gaon for an overnight stay.
Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy breakfast. Today, you will have a full day of sailing. Stop in between to visit the villages and meet the locals. Witness the lifestyle of North East Indian people settled along the sandbanks. Overnight stay in Tezpur.
On day 4 of your Weavers and Wildlife of Assam tour, you will be taken for a 40 km drive to Nameri National Park Eco Camp. Later, savor breakfast and visit the park. Hike for 2 hours and witness the lush greenery. Also, see exotic birds inside the park while you enjoy a coffee break. After the tour of the national park, grab your bikes and embark on a cycling tour to the tea gardens of Tezpur (42 km). Reach Garh Doul, an archaeological site, and enjoy lunch. Afterward, come back to the boat and retire for the day.
Day 5 :
Day 5 - Tezpur - Silghat - Kaziranga
On day 5 of your Wildlife in North East tour, have a scrumptious breakfast and start cycling on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River called Silghat. Cross Kolia Bhomora Setu on the river. Later, have lunch on the boat and make your way towards the Bagori range of Kaziranga National Park by car (42 km). This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for being home to one-horned rhinoceros. Explore the rich biodiversity of this national park on a jeep safari. Later, drive back to the boat for an overnight stay.
Day 6 :
Day 6 - Departure from Guwahati
Your Weavers and Wildlife tour of Assam ends today. After breakfast, say goodbye to the boat. We will drop you at Guwahati Airport for your flight to an onward destination with pleasant memories.
